Gen Z has its unique lingo that differs from that of older generations. They have created a whole new world of words and phrases. Their language is often concise, direct, and laced with humor and irony. Gen Z is the first generation to grow up in a world where they’re always connected, even though they mostly do it through phones, screens, and tablets.

Aura- Overall vibe, energy, or personality.

Basic - those who prefer mainstream products, trends, and music.

Bet - Agreeing to something; yes; okay; sure.

Brain rot - Consuming too much time online.

Bruh - Term used to express shock, embarrassment, or disappointment.

No Cap - "This is true"; "I'm not lying".

Cook - To perform or do well. In contrast, to "cooked" meaning they're in trouble.

Fire - to describe something impressive, good, or cool.

Fit/fit check - to highlight or bring attention to one's outfit.

Green flag - Indicates positive aspects or healthy behaviors. 

Ick - A sudden feeling of disgust or repulsion.

Oop - Used to express shock, embarrassment, and or amusement.

Pad kid - A derogatory term for Gen Z & Alpha kids who spend most of their time staring at a screen.

Iykyk - Acronym for "If you know, you know". Used to describe inside jokes.

Lit - Remarkable, interesting, fun, or amusing.

Locked in - A state of total concentration on a task.

Owned - Refer to defeat in a video game, or domination of an opposition.

Red flag - Warning sign indicating behaviors or characteristics that may be harmful. 

Rizz - One's charm. Derived from charisma.

Shook - To be shocked, surprised, or bothered. 

Touch grass - Suggesting someone "go outside" after they’ve been online for too long.

Unc - Abbreviation of uncle. Referring to someone who is old or acting old.
