Week 8 - Glory
November 2, 2025
Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work. Oswald Chambers
Prayer is not complicated, nor is it reserved for the spiritually elite. It is not a secret ritual or a lofty exercise—it is the very breath of our faith, the lifeline by which we draw near to God. Just as we cannot live without oxygen, we cannot thrive in Christ without prayer.
We all begin with questions and insecurities, wondering if our prayers sound right or measure up to those of others. But God does not weigh the beauty of our words; He delights in the honesty of our hearts. What matters is that we begin—that we turn toward Him, speaking truthfully and listening attentively.
Prayer is not one-sided; it is a holy dialogue. As we pause to listen, God shapes our hearts before He answers our requests. In those moments of quiet—through worship, Scripture, and prayer—we are formed. And when we join with others in prayer, our faith is strengthened, our lives knit closer to Christ.
Prayer transforms. It changes us, and through us, it changes the world. It carries us from one degree of glory to another, molding us through every season of life.
Even Jesus, the Son of God, slipped away in the early hours to pray. He is our model. If your day affords only one sacred moment for prayer, let it be at the start. In the stillness of the morning, before the demands of the day rush in, bring it all before Him. Invite Jesus to shape your steps, guide your thoughts, and carry your burdens.
Every day is a gift He has made. Rejoice in it, pray through it, and return it to Him with thanksgiving.
My prayer for you is in these eight weeks of going, worshipping, confessing, reading, and praying you have begun a new routine you will carry for the rest of your life. If you don’t already have others with whom you journey on this road of faith, I encourage you to find some. We are meant to do all of this in community.
Begin with the prayer and instructions on the How to Start page. Be sure you have spent time in worship. Finally, ask Holy Spirit to help you hear from Him before you read. Take time to listen.
Read the days text in your favorite translation quietly and aloud. Read it in another translation if you have time. What does the scripture teach about the character of God? What does it teach about spiritual growth? What is the Spirit saying to you today?
