When I first started college, I didn’t know what it meant to have a relationship with God. I knew Him, but I didn’t have a personal connection with Him until college.
For the past few years, I have worked for Young Life as a leader. The Lord has used my testimony to be an advocate and a voice for those who grew up like me, with a single mom and low income.
A lot of the students I disciple come from that same background. It took me a while to understand how my testimony would be helpful or even to appreciate my story. But now, I tell God, I'm Okay with it and even understand why it happened. My experiences have taught me to be understanding and grateful for what I have. They have also led me to my career path.
My story plays a huge part in God's plan for my life and how He wants me to use it in my ministry. God has shown me a career path in Family and Marriage Therapy. He has also shown me to appreciate the beauty of people. I am learning more about that and applying faith to it as well.
The mentors who have had an impact on my life are Eddie Reyes, Tom Harvey, Hannah, David, and my work director, Chris. Whenever I go through a bump in the road or need support, I know I can rely on them.
