Peyton Bilbrey, a dedicated member of the Crossroads community since birth, is channeling her long-standing love for the arts into this year's Christmas program, "Delivering Christmas."

When asked about a scene that resonated with her from this year’s production, Peyton quickly pointed to Scene 3, Gift of Peace. "It's very chaotic and life can feel like that sometimes," she explains, particularly around the holidays. The scene's message, the need to slow down amidst the busyness, is a moment she believes "everybody can relate to."

Stepping onto the stage brings its own set of challenges. For Peyton, who describes herself as a very quiet person, mastering the “stage voice” -the need to speak in a "very loud and almost boisterous voice" - is quite a hurdle.

The difference between her natural speaking style and the required theatrical projection "feels really awkward," she admits. This gives her the chance to learn from her peers and push past her discomfort, ensuring her commitment to the performance overcomes her personal awkwardness.

Though the arts have clearly played a significant role in her life, her commitment to the church extends beyond the stage. While the stage is one place where Peyton shines, she finds her "most authentic self" in the youth group at Crossroads. As a young adult, she feels "welcomed and accepted." She credits Pastors Hannah and David for creating a very welcoming atmosphere, especially during the Crew Nights. These function like small groups where everyone feels comfortable sharing and talking.

Peyton also contributes to the community by helping out in the cafe on Sunday mornings and setting up the chair pockets with supplies during the week. However, she believes the greatest value of the Crossroads community is its impact on its members. She describes the church as a "family and close-knit group of people" that actively tries to "lift each other up." From people reaching out for support to groups dedicated to praying over prayer requests, Peyton feels the community is a "really special" place.

The Christmas program, "Delivering Christmas," will be performed on December 6th with two showings: a 3:00 p.m. matinee and a 6:30 p.m. evening performance. Peyton invites everyone to see the culmination of her and her peers' efforts.
