Rich Jacobs, happier being known as a "facilitator" rather than a teacher, facilitates an engaging and in-depth adult Bible study here at Crossroads. His commitment to studying the Bible has created a special atmosphere for spiritual discipleship in his class.
In the words of Rich, “anyone can participate in the Sunday morning Bible study, regardless of their level of religious maturity, from seasoned Christians to those who are just starting out.”
Books like Daniel, Revelation, and, most recently, the Gospel of John are all extensively studied by them.
The goal of Bible study is to continue the fundamental study of the Bible, going over the word verse by verse while switching between the Old and New Testaments. Their next project will be the book of Exodus, which Rich estimates will take a year or so because of its complexity.
The long-term objective remains this dedication to ongoing, in-depth research. According to Rich, an essential part of the study is comprehending the historical background of the text. Understanding the historical context is necessary in order to fully understand what the Lord is saying in the Bible, especially when working with ancient texts and cultures from other countries. Although this seems intimidating, everyone in attendance is given informative handouts to use. The scriptures, commentary on history and prophecy, cross-references, illustrations, and maps are all included. They provide the class with useful tools to carry on their research at home.
There's no sign-up or payment required to join the Bible study – simply walk in. The class meets every Sunday at 9 a.m. in the Worship Center. For more information, you can speak directly with Rich Jacobs or talk to any of the pastors.
Additionally, information is available in the church bulletin, the Weekly Newsletter, and on the church website.
