When the Holy Spirit came upon the early believers on the day of Pentecost,
Acts 2:4 tells us that “all of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”
There were no bystanders, no benchwarmers but rather EVERYONE present was filled. Everyone had a role, and all had a voice.
That truth still holds today: there is no such thing as being on the sidelines of God’s team. If you’re part of the body of Christ, then you’re not only being called, you are chosen. You haven’t just made the team, you’re a starter. You are a key player in the advancement of God’s kingdom here on earth.
Perhaps you’ve been through something hard like rehab, and now you carry the compassion and understanding to walk alongside someone else who’s struggling; that’s ministry. Maybe you make the best pie in the neighborhood, then let your kitchen be a place where people taste not just sugar, but the goodness of God; that’s evangelism. Maybe you’re a golfer and you “speak golf.”
You connect with others through the language they understand, and from there, open the door to the deeper truth of God’s never-ending love.
I had the honor of delivering this message in both English and Spanish, not as a performance, but as a living testimony of the way God uses every tongue and talent for His glory. He’s given me the ability to speak in two languages, and with that gift, I aim to reach hearts for Jesus.
Whether your gift is language, art, listening, organizing, building, parenting, or encouraging, you are being called to use it.
1 Corinthians 3:6 reminds us,
“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.”
You may be the one who plants, or you may be the one who waters, but rest assured knowing God will do the rest.
But IT IS TIME TO STEP OUT OF OUR COMFORT ZONE. It’s time to stop questioning whether you’re qualified and start trusting the One who qualified you.
Philippians 2:3-6 urges us to live in humility, to value others above ourselves, and to take on the mindset of Christ. That means showing up, trusting boldly, and using whatever God has placed in your hands to reveal who He is. And that’s what we’re about at Crossroads.
THE PEOPLE OF CROSSROADS EXIST TO SHOW ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE THAT GOD IS GOOD.
No one is overlooked or riding the bench. You are seen. You are filled. You are called today. Now let’s go out and live like it!
