How to Start

Each day before you read and begin your daily prayer time, quiet your mind from all that might distract you. Take a few deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth. Relax your face, shoulders, arms, and your belly. Relax your hips and your legs, your ankles, and feet. Thank Jesus for at least three things for which you are grateful from the day before.

I recommend the following prayer of consecration. Consecration is a fancy way of saying ‘being set apart’. The prayer below intentionally sets our hearts, minds, eyes, and bodies on Jesus, setting us apart from the noise of our lives so we can hear from Him. Read it slowly, letting each line sink deep into your soul, and allowing it to shape your heart until it becomes an anthem by which you live.

Jesus, I belong to you.

I lift up my heart to you.

I set my mind on you.

I fix my gaze on you.

I offer my body to you as a living sacrifice; may it be holy and pleasing to you.

Jesus, we belong to you.

Teach us to pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
