telos seeks to love God through spiritual wholeness and intergenerational worship, love others through authentic community, and love the world through acts of mercy.
love God through Spiritual Wholeness and Intergenerational Worship:
God’s love draws us into a glorious relationship with Him and we choose to follow God’s call for spiritual growth to holiness and the establishment of His Kingdom on earth.
We exist as a larger Body of Christ, not only the local Body at CrossRoads, but the larger Church of the Nazarene and followers of Christ throughout the world. We realize our spiritual journey is found in the context of God’s story and seek to celebrate the Sacraments with God’s Church.
love others through Authentic Community:
We understand that our spiritual journey was intended to be lived in authentic community. Our experiences in Christ are to be shared with one another and we desire to create and facilitate opportunities to truly live together in genuine community.
love the world through Acts of Mercy:
We celebrate that God loves every one and thus we are compelled to actively bring about God’s Kingdom for all people. We accept the teachings of Scripture to care for the poor, the hungry, the thirsty, and the naked. We also realize that God’s creation is to be cared for by His creations and thus seek to treat our world accordingly.
What does telos mean?
In Matthew 19:16-21 (The Rich Young Man) teleios is used (a form of telos) for the word "perfect, whole". The guy asked Jesus what it is that he is lacking (i.e. what he must do to be complete or whole), and Jesus says, “If you want to be teleios, go, sell your possessions…” This passage isn’t telling everyone to sell all their stuff, but rather Jesus is pointing out in this young guy’s life what he is lacking that's keeping him from being whole and perfect.
telos is the purpose for which we were created by God. Our telos is found in the Garden of Eden when God created us out of LOVE and walked among us in harmony. Our telos is to love God completely and entirely, with all our hearts, minds, soul, and strength, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. To be consumed by God’s Holy, Divine Love.
This ministry exists to help people live into their telos.
Gatherings
Second Gathering (Sunday, 10:30 am - 12:00 pm in Worship Center) is a time for the people of CrossRoads to come together and celebrate life in Christ. It's a time for realigning to God's purposes, be inspired to action, prepare for service and unite as the body of Christ. Our Second Gathering is at 10:30 am in the Worship Center. The musical style is guitar-driven, and mostly consists of contemporary choruses. All of our Gatherings include scripture reading, prayer, and teaching.
Third Gathering (Sunday, 6:00 pm -7:30 pm in gym) is a time for the people of CrossRoads to come together and celebrate life in Christ. It's a time for realigning to God's purposes, be inspired to action, prepare for service and unite as the body of Christ. Our Third Gathering is at 6:00 pm in the Gym. The phrases associated with this Gathering are: "Expect the unexpected." "Raw, casual." The musical style may vary from week to week. All of our Gatherings include scripture reading, prayer, and teaching.
Community
Sunday morning Discussion Group20s (Sunday morning, 9:30 am, WC107) is for those 18-late 20s. We hit on culturally relevant Truths through video series and book series based on Scriptural Truths that teach us how to live authentic Christian lives today. Come join the discussion in a casual, living room setting at 9:30 am in room W107.
Small Groups are an important avenue in connecting with people, building community, and reaching out to those in need. One of the best ways to start living in authentic community with each other is through participating in community. We believe those who participate in Small Groups not only feel a connection with others in their group, but also more of a connection with the church, with their faith and with God. THE MERCY PROJECT
The Mercy Project seeks to take care of the poor and needy and to spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth. We believe that Gad has called us to holiness but also recognize that there is no holiness except social holiness. CrossRoads seeks to walk out the mercy value through tangible actions in the community and around the world. Click here to visit The Mercy Project.
Prayer
Prayer Meeting (Wednesday, 6:30 to 8:30 pm in prayer room) is open prayer time for come and go prayer. No scheduled teaching.
